Celebrate the Beauty of Winter

Explore winter wonders at Morris Arboretum & Gardens! From our extensive witchhazel collection that adds color and fragrance to the landscape, to a specialized tour of our "bare naked trees," February is a wonderful time to visit us in Chestnut Hill.

Witchhazels

The Morris witchhazel collection is one of the largest in the country, adding bursts of color and fragrance across the winter landscape. Some witchhazels are currently in full bloom, and our overall collection is expected to peak by mid-February—visit in the next few weeks to see this exquisite winter beauties!

Bare Naked Trees Tour

Saturday, February 10 & 24 • 11 am
Meet at the Welcome Center. Free with general admission. Weather permitting.  

Explore the beauty of trees in winter on this guided tour! Without their leaves, deciduous trees reveal a variety of shapes and sculptures to admire. The tour features weeping, round, pyramidal, and vase-shaped trees, and highlights the many colors and textures of tree bark. This tour provides a unique perspective of trees as we enjoy the beauty of the winter garden.

Garden Highlights Tour

Weekends (year round) • 1 pm 
Weekdays (starting March 18) • 10:30 am 
Meet at the Welcome Center. Free with general admission. Weather permitting.  

Our knowledgeable guides will design a tour around the interests of the attendees. Garden Highlights Tour occurs year round—every tour is different, so come back as many times as you’d like!

 
Winter Wellness Walks

Meet at the Welcome Center. Free with general admission. Weather permitting.  

Experience winter beauty at Morris Arboretum & Gardens while getting your steps in! Led by our experienced Garden Educator Volunteers, our Winter Wellness Walks are an opportunity to experience the season in all its wonder, get your heart rate up, and create connections with friends and fellow visitors. All walks are on paved pathways and have light exercise. All levels of fitness are welcome. Meet at the Welcome Center. Free with general admission. Weather permitting.

Family Activities

Valentines Day Craft

Wednesday, February 14 • 11 am
Meet in the Outdoor Classroom. Free with general admission.

Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, I love plants, but not as much as you! Show how much you love your friends and family by painting a mini terracotta pot for a plant that will grow and grow just like your heart. Sweet treats included.
