Philadelphia, PA—Morris Arboretum & Gardens is pleased to host the book releases of three authors whose works proclaim the benefits of trees and gardens. The celebratory events include talks by the authors—Henrik Sjöman, Tama Matsuoka Wong, and Nicole Juday—as well as the debut of the first-ever coffee table book on Philadelphia’s private gardens.

Trees for the Future
A Talk by Henrik Sjöman, author of The Essential Tree Selection Guide

Join us in person, or virtually, as Henrik Sjöman shares his latest research and practical experience of trees from his latest book, The Essential Tree Selection Guide. Find out the ecosystem services trees offer, the unique characteristics some species have developed to deal with different growing environments, and how to increase species diversity to build in resilience.
Registrants will have the additional option to purchase a book and have it signed. A casual reception will follow the talk. This program is being presented jointly by the Morris Arboretum & Gardens and Chanticleer. The program has been approved to carry 2 ISA and LA CES CEUs.

Tama Matsuoka Wong is corporate lawyer, mother, and professional forager who finds and eats healthy ingredients growing in the wild. Tama will give us a peek inside of Into the Weeds—part practical and philosophical, with photographs by renowned garden photographer Ngoc Minh Ngo as well as expert botanical and project illustrations. The book also features DIY activities, recipes, and structures to make from the plants we can find around us. The program will include a botanical mocktail, and Tama will host a book signing after the program (books will be available for purchase at the program). Come early or stay after the program for a walk around the Gardens! Then, join her April 6 for her class on foraging and cooking with invasive plants. Join us in celebrating the launch of Private Gardens of Philadelphia by Nicole Juday, the first-ever coffee table book on the city’s private gardens, with a virtual book talk and a book signing!
Registrants will gain access to the virtual book talk on Thursday, April 25, and have the option to purchase a book and pick it up at the in-person book signing at the Morris on Saturday, April 27, between 10 am and noon. After you pick up your copy of the publication and have Nicole sign it, you are invited to stay for a mug of tea or glass of lemonade and take it with you as you explore the gardens here at the Morris!
