Additional Information

As full-time staff members of the University of Pennsylvania, interns work a 40-hour week at an hourly rate of approximately $13.10. Interns must commit themselves for the full-year term, beginning June 15, 2020.

Three bedrooms are available in the Intern House, which is conveniently located in the Arboretum, near to the Swan Pond with gated access to Hillcrest Avenue. Monthly rent includes utilities. The Intern House is fully furnished with a common kitchen, dining room, living room, bathroom, patio, laundry and off-street parking. The Intern House was built in 1905 by noted architects Stewardson and Cope. This nationally listed historic structure served as the Head Gardeners Cottage and Gate House for the estate.

Helpful Housing Links:

Interns receive health, dental, and vision benefits through the University of Pennsylvania.

Additional benefits include paid vacation time, sick days, several paid holidays, and an administrative vacation between Christmas and New Year’s Day.

More Opportunities to Grow

All interns are eligible for additional tuition benefits at the University of Pennsylvania, Chestnut Hill College, and Temple University’s Ambler Campus. Interns are eligible to take two classes in any semester. In the spring semester these credits can only be taken at the University of Pennsylvania.

Interns may also sign up to take classes, some of which are free, from our seasonal course brochure and attend Arboretum-sponsored conferences and symposia that they find of interest and that will further their professional development.
